Common Signs to Inspect
- The rear door or lift panel slowly drops after being opened.
- The rear door or lift panel will not remain securely in the open position.
- One or both original lift supports feel weak.
- Weakness becomes more noticeable in colder conditions.
Weak gas struts are only one possible cause. Also inspect the hinges, ball studs, mounting brackets, mounting points, and any added panel weight before replacing parts.

Where the application uses a conventional paired support setup, replacing the pair helps avoid relying on one aged support and one new support. Keep the original left/right positions and mounting orientation.
Installation & Safety Notes
- Securely support the rear door or lift panel before removing either original lift support.

- Do not clamp, scratch, bend, heat, puncture, cut, weld, or open the pressurized gas strut.

Three years ago, I put on a different aftermarket piston/strut. They wore out. These feel much more robust. Time will tell. Easy to do in 5 minutes with a small flat head screwdriver.

Very pleased with the ease of installation. My camper went from having a window held open with a clamp, to opening and staying open with its own struts. Hopefully they last longer than the factory struts did, but for $15 dollars I can��t complain about anything.

replaced my old ones on my 2005 pickup bed canopy. these are so easy to install and so stiff and strong....it takes 2 hands to open the canopy window :) I am perfectly fine with that, I like the stronger seal....keeps rain water from going into the canopy now. thank you

These lifts for my camper top took all of 5 minutes to install and fit perfectly. Nicely packaged with clear instructions in case you have never replaced them before. The average life of these appears to be around 5-6 years, and well worth the money.

Although installation was straightforward, it was harder than expected to get the old ones off. However, once installed, worked great at a good price. No more snow broom holding up the hood!

The fitment was good, these are very powerful and popped my hood right up. Although I won��t need to replace these anytime soon, I will be replacing my rear hatchback with the same brand.

Fits my 02 LX470 Perfectly!! Extremely pleased with these struts, easy to install, and although they're a smaller diameter than the OEM, they feel strong enough to hold the load.

Not sure why I waited so long to replace these struts - I thought it was going to be a big deal. These worked great and they were a cinch to install. Just make sure you have a 12mm open end wrench to make your life easier. This job literally took all of 15 minutes to complete - and now when I open the front hood and start to lift - these struts lift it the rest of the way and hold it firmly in place. Excellent!
