A fuel gauge that stays on empty or full, moves erratically, reads the wrong level, or drops out over bumps can indicate a sender or float fault after the gauge circuit, wiring, connector, ground, and instrument cluster have been tested. The 5C3Z-9275-BA assembly is a diesel fuel-tank sending unit for specified 2005–2006 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty trucks with the 6.0L Power Stroke engine. It is not a complete electric fuel pump module. Confirm the model, build date, wheelbase, single midship tank, OE number, flange, connector, tube layout, and float-arm geometry before ordering.

6.0L Super Duty Fuel-Level Sending Unit Application

This tank-mounted sender measures diesel fuel level for the instrument-cluster gauge. Verified application data includes selected 2005–2006 F-250 and F-350 Super Duty 6.0L trucks, with catalog restrictions involving the single midship tank, approximately 142- or 156-inch wheelbase, and production through approximately December 5, 2005 for some configurations.

Fitment Verification

  • Confirm the 2005 or 2006 F-250/F-350 Super Duty and 6.0L diesel engine.
  • Verify the single midship fuel tank, wheelbase, and vehicle production date.
  • Match 5C3Z-9275-BA, 5C3Z9275BA, FG201A, FL0270, or PS178.
  • Compare the mounting flange, electrical connector, sender rheostat, tube arrangement, tank depth, and float-arm direction.

Part Functions and Included Components

  • Fuel-level sender and float arm measure tank level for the instrument-cluster gauge.
  • Tank-mounted hanger and tube layout must match the original diesel sending unit.
  • The electric fuel pump is not included, and this part does not create fuel pressure.
  • Seal, lock ring, strainer, and other service hardware should be confirmed from the package before installation.

Symptoms and Diagnostic Checks

Test sender resistance through its full travel and inspect the connector, ground, gauge wiring, and instrument-cluster circuit before replacement. A bent float arm, damaged rheostat, corroded connector, poor ground, incorrect tank application, or internal tank interference can cause inaccurate readings. Diesel fuel-delivery symptoms require separate testing of the engine-side fuel supply system.

Installation Notes

Disconnect the batteries, work in a ventilated area, and drain or safely support the tank as required. Clean the flange, install the correct new seal, position the float without bending it, and confirm free movement before securing the unit. After installation, inspect the flange for leaks and verify that the gauge responds smoothly as fuel level changes.

My last cheapo pump lasted five years

Good price, works well so far. When installing a new tank..it is the right time to install a new pump and sending unit.

Quieter than oem

I can barely hear it turn on. It would have to be 3 o'clock in the morning to hear it clearly but not during the day. 400 miles in and so far so good. Plenty of pics attached. Oem in pic

1000 Mile update: when filling tank will say full until tank is 5/8-3/4. There's no in between. No "real" issue there

Pump it up

Seems like a good replacement. The wiring instructions are incorrect and caused it to not turn on. After looking up the proper diagram on line it came right on.

Same as your local auto parts dealer.

I paid about a third of what they wanted from the local supply house. Same pump. Going on my 3rd week and it's performing great. Save yourself some cash and buy it.
