Low fuel pressure, long cranking, hesitation under load, stalling, or an inaccurate fuel gauge can result from a failed pump, sender, wiring connection or contaminated tank. The BDFHYK EP2097H / E2238M fuel pump module is intended for specified 1999–2004 Ford F-250 Super Duty and F-350 Super Duty gasoline trucks using the front or midship tank. Common engine coverage includes the 5.4L V8 and 6.8L V10. Confirm tank position, wheelbase, emissions configuration, RFI-filter equipment, OE number, connector and tube layout before installation.
E2238M Front or Midship Tank Application
Vehicle and Engine Coverage
- Specified 1999–2004 Ford F-250 Super Duty 5.4L V8 or 6.8L V10 gasoline applications
- Specified 1999–2004 Ford F-350 Super Duty 5.4L V8 or 6.8L V10 gasoline applications
Critical Configuration Checks
This module is associated with the front or midship tank on selected wheelbases, including approximately 141.8/142 and 156/156.2 inches. Catalog coverage commonly specifies trucks without the California emissions system and without a fuel-pump radio-frequency-interference filter. Compare the tank location, emissions label, OE reference, round four-pin connector, two tube connections and sender arm before ordering.
Module Functions and Related Checks
The assembly provides in-tank fuel delivery and fuel-level reporting. The sender is included; the tank pressure sensor is not. The external strainer, fuel-line connections, electrical connector and sealing surface must match the removed unit. Do not use this module as an automatic substitute for a rear-tank assembly or for a diesel lift-pump system.
Symptoms to Check
- Measured fuel pressure below specification during cranking or load
- Extended cranking, hesitation, lean codes or intermittent stalling
- Gauge readings that remain fixed or change unexpectedly
- Heat-damaged connector terminals, voltage drop or a weak chassis ground
Installation Notes
Relieve pressure, disconnect the battery and support the tank safely. Clean the tank interior and mounting flange, replace the seal and inspect both tube connections. Verify that the float moves freely before closing the tank. Prime the system, check for leaks and measure pressure after installation. A faulty relay, inertia switch, damaged harness, restricted filter or tank contamination can imitate module failure and should be tested during diagnosis.
